FAQ: What is the difference between RentSpree and TransUnion?

While RentSpree and TransUnion may seem similar, RentSpree offers more features at a lower cost.

RentSpree vs. TransUnion- What's the difference?

  • We include the online rental application in addition to the TransUnion screening reports. TransUnion does not offer the application.
  • TransUnion charges applicants $40 for a credit report and score, criminal background check, and nationwide check on eviction-related proceedings. RentSpree charges less and provides the rental application as well!
  • RentSpree provides additional marketing tools for you to use, such as:
    • An ApplyLink™ to apply and screen directly for your property that can be posted on social media, the MLS, or any listing site you are advertising on.
    • A Screening Handout™ to print and bring to live showings or open houses. Applicants can scan the QR code provided and submit a completed application and screening reports before leaving the property.
  • Collect Rent through your RentSpree dashboard by connecting your online bank account and your Applicant's online bank account.
  • Create public listing pages from your RentSpree account to showcase property listing photos, videos, amenities, and more!
  • Create a Branding Page with RentSpree to showcase your expertise, licenses, and certifications.
  • We offer RentSpree PRO, which is our service that offers extra features including:
    • Document upload - Request extra documents from the applicant such as a government-issued ID, pay stubs, W-2s, and more!
    • Reference checks - Upon request, RentSpree will reach out to employers, landlords, and references included on the rental application to verify the information provided.
  • As RentSpree is not a CRA, Credit Reporting Agency, RentSpree uses TransUnion to generate the Credit Report, Criminal Background Check, and Eviction Related Proceedings.
