How to connect your own bank account
Deposit rent directly into your existing checking account by connecting it through Stripe.
If you'd prefer to receive rent in your existing bank account rather than a RentSpree Money account, you can connect it through Stripe. The connection is secure, encrypted, and takes a few minutes to set up.
Getting started
You can connect your bank account from two places:
- When sending your first payment request: after clicking Send request, a prompt will appear asking where your payout should go. Click Use another account.
- From Payment Settings: go to your Payments tab, click Settings, then Change under your payout account.

Step 1: Connect through Stripe
A Stripe modal will appear. Review the connection details — RentSpree uses Stripe to securely link your account — then click Agree and continue.
Search for your bank and select it from the list. Most major banks connect instantly. If your bank isn't available for instant connection, click Manually verify instead, which takes 1 to 2 business days.
Step 2: Verify your tax information
After connecting your bank, RentSpree will ask how your rental income is managed:
- Individual: you treat your rental as a personal investment
- Business: your rental is owned by a business entity
This determines which tax forms you receive at year-end.
Step 3: Verify your identity
Complete the identity verification form with your legal name, date of birth, home address, phone number, and the last 4 digits of your Social Security number. You'll also be asked to upload a government-issued photo ID.
Step 4: Review and confirm
Review all submitted information and click Confirm. Your bank account is now connected and ready to receive payments.
Complete your bank connection before your tenant's first payment is due. The first payment takes 7 to 10 business days to arrive regardless of which account you use, so getting verified early avoids delays.
Please note that you will be unable to change your banking account once a tenant's funds are processing.
