What is an extended fraud victim alert?

An extended fraud victim alert on a credit file means the applicant reported identity theft. Under the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA), it stays on the file for 7 years, and the applicant can remove it earlier by requesting removal in writing with proof of identity.

If you’re an applicant with an extended fraud alert, let your agent or landlord know before submitting your screening.
