Overview - Rent Reporting & Rewards

Rent Reporting & Rewards, powered by Piñata, gives you credit for paying rent on time through RentSpree. Your on-time payments are reported to Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion to help build your credit history, and each one earns points you can spend on rewards. It's included with RentSpree at no cost.

Rent Reporting & Rewards is rolling out in stages. It's available now to renters setting up rent payment through RentSpree for the first time, and it will reach all RentSpree renters later this fall.

How rent reporting works

Reporting is positive only: on-time payments are reported, and late or missed payments are never reported, so they can't hurt your credit. Each month's payment is reported on the 15th of the following month. It can take 30–60 days for the account to appear on your credit report, and up to 60 days for your score to update. We can't promise a specific score change, because your score depends on many factors.

When you join, up to 24 months of your past on-time rent payments can also be reported, called back-reporting. This doesn't apply if you're moving over from Credit Builder, because that history is already on your credit report.

How you earn points

You get welcome points when you join, then 60 points for each on-time rent payment, added on the 5th of the following month. Your first prorated month doesn't earn points. Within your first week, you'll also get an email with a $30 welcome gift to use at a local business you choose. Spend points on gift cards, home items, and giveaway entries. See how to use your rewards points.

Who can join

You can join if you pay rent through RentSpree with a monthly rent between $100 and $15,000 and a due date on or before the 28th. We'll ask for your date of birth if it's not on file, because the credit bureaus need it to match your payments to your credit file. To get started, see how to turn on Rent Reporting & Rewards.

Turning off rent reporting

You can stop rent reporting anytime and keep your rewards. See how to turn off rent reporting.

If you used Credit Builder

Rent Reporting & Rewards replaces Credit Builder. Your Credit Builder account with TransUnion closes after your October rent is reported, and your on-time history stays on your credit report as a closed account. You'll move to Rent Reporting & Rewards automatically unless you opt out by October 25 using the rent reporting opt-out form. Your October rent is reported through Credit Builder, and your November rent is the first reported through Rent Reporting & Rewards. The next time you log in to RentSpree, you'll be asked to accept the Rent Reporting & Rewards terms.
