FAQ: Does the SSN/ITIN number appear on the tenant screening reports?
No, the SSN or ITIN will not show on the rental application or reports
TransUnion does not provide the Social Security Number or International Tax ID number on any of the screening reports.
This is to protect the applicant and the agent. The applicant does not have to worry about sensitive information being openly available to agents and landlords. At the same time, agents and landlords have less liability by not having the applicant's sensitive information at hand.
All applicants go through an identity check through TransUnion. TransUnion verification has them provide either their SSN or ITIN number while also answering a series of identity verification questions.
