[Beta Feature] Add Reference Calls to Your Screening
We’re piloting a new add-on that gives agents and landlords deeper insight into their applicants through live calls to their employer and landlord. Most users don’t have the time to follow up with references directly. RentSpree handles the outreach on your behalf, giving you the benefit of professional, reliable reference calls without the extra work. This helps you save time, reduce risk, and make more confident leasing decisions.

What’s Included
The Reference Call Add-On includes two live phone calls per applicant, placed by a trained RentSpree team member on your behalf:
- Employer Verification - We confirm employment status, job title, start date, and monthly income. This includes salary, hourly wages, tips, commissions, and bonuses.
- Landlord Verification - We confirm rent payment history, property care, and general tenant reliability.
Up to three call attempts are made per reference over three business days. Once the outreach is complete, you’ll receive a summary of the results by email.
How It Works
- You receive an email offering the option to add reference calls to your screening
- You click the call-to-action and provide your email address, plus the applicant’s name and email
- A trained Customer Support Specialist begins outreach to the applicant’s references on your behalf
- Once calls are complete, you’ll receive:
- A summary of the results by email
- A link to submit payment
- A short feedback survey
Pricing: The agent or landlord requesting the add-on covers the $25 cost at the time of purchase.
Availability: This beta is currently available to a select group of RentSpree users who receive a completed application package.
How RentSpree Handles Authorization
If a reference contact requests signed authorization, RentSpree coordinates directly with the applicant. There is no action required on your end.
Common Questions
How do you verify landlord references?
Our team contacts the landlord listed on the applicant’s rental application to confirm key details about their payment history, property care, and overall reliability. MLS database records are not currently used in this pilot.
How do you verify employment information?
We reach out directly to the employer provided by the applicant to confirm their job status, start date, and income details. Tools like The Work Number are not used in this version of the service.
Can PRO or Premium users purchase this add-on?
Not yet, but we plan to make it available to more user groups in the near future.
How long does it take to receive results?
Results are typically delivered within three business days. In some cases, timing may vary slightly depending on how quickly the reference contacts respond.
