How to Fill Out Your Online Rental Application


After you've accessed your Online Rental Application, you may begin filling it out. Here is a step-by-step guide to walk you through each part of our Universal Online Rental Application and Tenant Verification Package. 


  • Select your preferred move-in date to get started. You can also add some information about yourself if you choose.




  • Once you’ve selected your move-in date, you will be able to fill out your RentSpree online rental application. Click the green Start button to begin. 





  • Fill out the About Me and Country/State sections and click Save & Next to continue. You will not be able to advance if a field with a red asterisk is not completed.




  • Select your current housing type (rental or owner) and fill out all of the required fields depending on which type of housing you currently live in. It is recommended (but not mandatory) that you fill out your previous residence as well. Click Save & Next to continue. 





  • Select your work status (employed, student, unemployed) and fill out the information regarding your current and previous occupation. 


  • Add any additional income that you receive and make sure that the total monthly income amount is accurate. Click Save & Next to continue. 






  • Enter one personal and professional reference with their contact info. By entering this information you give permission to the receiver of the application to contact these references. 




  • Enter any pets that you will bring with you to your new rental property. 


  • Add the vehicle(s) you have along with its make, model, color, and license plate number. 


  • Answer all of the additional information questions truthfully. Click Save & Next and you will be directed back to the main application page where you will next need to attach your credit report. 



Filling Out Your Credit Report



  • To start your credit report, click Start Screening Process on the “Attach Credit Report” section of your application. 




  • Fill out the About Me section, and make sure your information is correct, including your Social Security Number.



  • Read and agree to the TransUnion Service Agreement before completing your credit report. Click I agree to these terms and conditions followed by Save & Next





  • After you agree to the terms and conditions, you will be asked a variety of security questions provided by TransUnion based on the information they have from your SSN. 


  • You have seven tries to answer these questions correctly. You will need to call TransUnion to manually verify your identity if either: 


a.) You fail to answer the questions correctly seven times; OR


b.) TransUnion does not have enough information on you or you do not have enough credit history to generate security questions. This is what TransUnion calls a “thin-file” error.


  •  If you encounter these errors, call TransUnion’s support line at 1 (866) 775-0961. Give them the email address you used for your application and they will be able to fix the error. 

  • Once you finish the security questions, you will be redirected back to the main application page. To finalize your application, fill out the Submit Application section with your payment information, and click the blue Submit Application button at the bottom of the page. 


  • Congratulations! Your application has been submitted. Your agent or landlord will receive a notification in their email and they will be able to view your application and screening reports. In order to view your reports, access your Renter Dashboard (link to renter dashboard help page).
